5 Simple Ways To Get Your Exercise In When You Can't Get A Complete Workout

Five Substitutes For Days You Miss.

Many people take time to work out daily. Whether it is walking, running, or riding a bike, they will make an effort to fit it in. What if you just don't have the time or don't feel like doing a total workout? Here are five ways you can incorporate exercises without making them a chore.

  1. Taking the stairs instead of an elevator. If you don't already do this, incorporate it into your daily routine. As the elders use to say, "stairs keep you young."

  2. If you sit in a cubicle or sit most of the day, try doing chair push-ups or sit-to-stands. Simply spread your feet apart as if you were going to stand, place your hands on the arms of the chair, and prepare to stand but don't stand up completely. The focus is on your arms and legs. Try and complete four sets of twenty, two times a day. You should see a difference in your upper body and lower body strength in as little as three weeks.

  3. The next time you go shopping for groceries or clothing, try parking your vehicle several rows back from the door. This will help you increase your steps for the day.

  4. When choosing your grocery items, instead of using a shopping cart choose a basket instead, if possible. This will help you increase your upper body strength.

  5. Finally, carrying your groceries to your vehicle instead of using a shopping cart will help you increase your overall upper body and lower body strength.

Incorporating these simple tasks into your daily routine can help you increase your strength while maintaining good balance (homeostasis).
