It can be somewhat challenging to manage a healthy diet, daily. Traveling can add an extra layer of difficulty when you are trying to make healthy choices.

  1. Find a grocery store and buy fresh fruits and vegetables that have a reasonable shelf life. A least 5 days. You should have them available to you when you get hungry. In addition, many hotels have refrigerators.

  2. Buy some nuts. Pistachio’s, almonds, or sunflower seeds with low or no salt are ideal for traveling.

  3. If you have to eat at a restaurant, eat a fresh salad with your meal. If you eat lunch and dinner, have a salad with both meals.

  4. Try to exclude meat from one of your meals. This will reduce the potential for constipation. No fun when you are traveling.

  5. Reduce the amount of carbs, such as bread, chips, and pastries. These items will pack on the pounds quickly. Unless you plan on doing a lot of walking to burn off the carbs, keep them at a minimum.

  6. Bonus! Also, when you order your meal, request that they reduce the sodium they put on your food. Most restaurants add too much salt to the food. Therefore, you have no idea if the salt they add will exceed your daily intake. This would not be good.

Good sharing for travel food tips. I pack a snack bags when I leave home to avoid eating out. I eat every two to three hours, so it's nice to have fruits, nuts and veggies to snack on. Although, I still love my chips.
