5 Things you should do to combat stress:

We have all experienced stress in some form or fashion. If you interact with people, I am almost certain you have encountered some level of stress in your daily life. Some stress can be good. For example, buying gifts for your significant other or receiving a massage for the first time. On the other hand, if you are unable to sleep because you have to get up the next morning and go to a job you hate, this can be deadly.

The adrenal glands in our bodies create cortisol. If the cortisol levels are consistently high, the hypothalamus becomes imbalanced. This can cause high blood pressure, weight gain, diabetes, muscle weakness, and anxiety.

Here are 5 ways you can manage stress in your daily life...

  1. Meditate. Take 5 to 10 minutes before you get up and or before you go to bed. Take 5 deep breaths, hold for 10 seconds, and visualize what you would like to change/manifest in your life.

  2. Try to drink half of your weight in ounces daily. This will help your body eliminate toxins.

  3. Stretch daily. If you are unable to exercise, stretching will help your body relax in order to rest and sleep better.

  4. Eat more fresh food. Food that is cooked is dead. We are alive. Therefore, our food should be as well.

  5. Spend more time outdoors. The sun provides Vitamin D. Our bodies require vitamin D to absorb calcium. Calcium helps cortisol reduce stress and bring our bodies back to homeostasis.
